Have you ever heard of Elvas?
Neither have I before my friends asked me to join for a day trip there.
But are we not all in that constant search to find places off the beaten path? And its even better when those places you find bring you back a view hundred of years.
Elvas is an old town in the district Alentejo in Portugal at the boarder of Spain.
Wikipedia tells us: „The site, extensively fortified from the 17th to 19th centuries, represents the largest bulwarked dry ditch system in the world“ and of course it is another UNESCO World heritage Site. Seriously, Portugal is full of them.
Its one of those castle towns you just wander around and try to imagine you in that time, there is still a little magic left.
Elvas is also known for its plums and olives and they manufacture Brandy in the town.
You can get there within 2hrs with the car from Lisbon or take a bus form Lisbon or Evora but it takes double the time, so better you jump in that car and enjoy the amazing landscapes of Portugal.
If you wanna know more about its UNESCO details check here.
But know its picture time. Oh and just for your information, pictures were taken in Mid November, please have a look at our outfits.
Get wonderfully lost in Elvas
