Black Lives Matter

Veröffentlicht in: Allgemein, Ausserdem, Blog, München / Bayern, Photos, Stories | 0

My blog is usually about beautiful places, stories and tips where to go and how to make traveling easier but I barley speak up for anything on here. I wrote an article about „refugees“ a few years ago because it is an important topic worldwide so now I want to write about another topic that currently brings the world together: Black lives Matter.

I’m an advocate for „Equality – Everyone should be treated the same“.

After Georg Floyd got brutally murdered by the police in the US the world had enough. Enough of splitting the world into Races. The US started to protest on the streets, despite the current fact, that COVID-19 is still a topic. After everyone was social distancing at home and had time to reflect about them self it was about time to get together again, bigger and stronger than before and fight for the matter of Black Lives and PoCs.

It didn’t take long that Europe started to act as well, it appears a lot in the US but can also be found in other parts around the globe. Racism is not at home in the states, you can find it everywhere and people from everywhere have to deal and live with it daily.

Social Media started to blow up and suddenly #blackouttuesday blocked your feed with black squares and accounts with a huge reach started to share and educate.

Race might never be an issue for you and you might think „I don’t see color“ or „all lives Matter“. Those are the wrong ways to think and it is important to educate yourself about this.

I saw something great on instagram by Jared Price today:

„If you are a Christian, and can’t hear #BlackLivesMatter without feeling the need to respond with a criticism that „All Live Matter,“ then crack open your Bible and hit up Luke 15.

Don’t have it handy? Let me summarize.
There are 100 sheep, but one goes missing.
Jesus leaves the 99 and goes after the one.
The 99: „But… what about us? Don’t we matter?“
Of course the 99 still matter, but they’re not the ones in danger.
The one is.
I’ll say it again, #BlackLivesMatter.
* Inspired by the original post by @manny_arteaga from Twitter.“
You don’t need to be religious at all to understand the meaning of this post.

It sometimes already starts for someone when you ask a person that was born and raised in Germany „Where are you really from? Where are your roots?“ It gives them a feeling of separation, not belonging.

I don’t want to talk to much about this, because I’m still not educated enough and there is so much I want to learn and hear about, and I’ll NEVER stop to stand up even if I don’t understand.

But I can spread the message by the way I can do best (hopefully) by telling you the story via my pictures. June 06 in 2020 will be in german history books. Every big city attend a „Silent Demo“ today, so did Munich, I joined. Together with 25.000 people we wanted to set a sign against Racism and show that we are in this together, Black and White.

I want to tell stories and create feelings with my pictures so I could not NOT bring my camera.

But before I share the event I want to share some helpful tips how you can educate yourself about this topic.

„You have to educate yourself so you know what you are standing for and why you are standing because the only way we can solve this issue is through exposure, through education, through compassion and though Empathy“ – Emmanuel Acho

Here are some things how you can help:

Donate – support Black people business – educate yourself

If you are on instagram you can search for the hashtag #blacklivesmatter

This one is mostly used to inform and educate and spread the messages.
